Instead of every single device in your building shutting down simultaneously, the UPS can keep critical parts of your IT infrastructure up and running long enough to save any progress, then shut down safely without damage.

A UPS device is implemented so that minimal damage is sustained and minimal data is lost due to power outages. In particular, this is important for your servers, as they will require more time to shut down properly than your other technology. Otherwise, the data stored within could be put at risk.
